Louise D. Phelps
Ms. Phelps has been an owner and publisher of her own newspaper company in two areas of the country, through acquisition and new product launch, and has been successful in head to head competition with major metro, regional daily newspapers and large shopper companies.
Additionally, she has served as editor and publisher, advertising director, circulation director and alternate delivery director for The Oshkosh Northwestern Company, Oshkosh, WI.,and for the Chronicle Publishing Company of San Francisco.
She has also served as Associate Publisher/Sales for Lawyers Weekly Publications, one of the country’s leading niche newspaper, book and daily fax publishers for the legal industry.
Lou is a frequent national and international program chair, speaker and facilitator in the newspaper industry, including for INMA, NNA, NAA, ICMA and API, including working with newspaper publishers in Russia, and has extensive key executive leadership training and mentoring credentials.
But, Lou is just one member of a strong PC&A team of executives.
Tom Connolly has had a distinguished career in the radio industry, and has led corporate training programs. His radio experience has included positions with publicly-traded networks, as well as community radio stations.
He has worked with Cumulus Broadcasting, Jacor Broadcasting, Great American Broadcasting, Taft Broadcasting, Quantum Communications, at WDAF-AM in Kansas City, and with Marmac Communications and Atlantic Land & Development Corp. in Georgia. From 1998 to 2001, he served as VP of Radio Partnerships for Media Ocean, an Internet start-up, to build a Web platform to facilitate the online transaction of media advertising business in real time, online negotiation.
Tom has served on community Chambers of Commerce boards of directors, and as a member of the original steering committee of the Golden Isles Career Academy, focusing on workforce development.
Mr. Kraus has served in number of circulation and distribution positions over the years with some of the U.S.’s leading newspaper publishers. He is currently consulting, focusing on circulation department and mailroom efficiencies, as well as new revenue generation and carrier training.
Recent projects have included helping a small daily save over $ 23,000 per year and grow their paid circulation; helped a 10,800 daily save $ 20,000 per year and stabilize its carriers; saved a news company $ 7,000 per month in payroll, reduced their complaint ratio from 2.65 to 1.5/m 1,000 showed a net gain in their paid circulation four out of the five months, during his consultancy period.
He has also recently served as Acting Circulation Director while a company went through a protracted CD search.
Charles Asiedu has strong skills in audience development, customer service and business operations of newspapers and distribution companies. His experience includes sales, revenue and pricing strategies, with strong interpersonal skills.
In his career, he has held significant positions with CIPS Marketing Group-Los Angeles, USA Today/Gannett Publishing Services, Pasadena Star News, Orange County Register and the former Los Angeles Herald Examiner.
David Rigas is an Associate – Advisor with the firm. PC&A consults with David on special circulation projects, including on pricing strategies, systems, and major distribution projects. He is currently a Regional Circulation Director for Civitas Media.
David has extensive newspaper experience with Georgia newspaper companies including the Atlanta Journal Constitution and The Covington News. In Covington, GA. where he served as both Sales Manager and later Publisher.
He has also served as Advertising Director / Sales Director at the Dunkirk Observer in Dunkirk, NY and Group Publisher / Sales Director at the Westfield Republican in Westfield, NY for Ogden Newspapers.
Abdur Rashid is PC&A’s newest Associate, based in Bangladesh. He has worked with U.S, and international companies in web development, support and optimization strategies.
He leads PC&A’s newest service – providing web development and backend support for newspapers that seek to build their own websites to eliminate large, initial capital investments charged by existing publishing platforms, and highly monthly hosting/support rates. Under Mr. Rashid, PC&A can rebuild existing sites; and provide 24-7-365 support. This service is particularly relevant for newspapers in small and rural markets that can not afford to hire a qualified Digital Manager, or have a gap in their current support strategy.
Abdur oversees a team of programmers in his country to serve PC&A clients.
